A palimpsest is a surface upon which earlier writing has been erased, overwritten or partly concealed, while traces of what came before remain.

In Palimpsest, the figure’s skin becomes such a surface. Mysterious marks flow across her face and body like fragments of an unknown language—suggesting memories, experiences and identities written upon her over time.

Her closed eyes and inward posture create a sense of stillness and vulnerability. The surrounding darkness appears to interrupt and obscure the writing, yet cannot erase it entirely. Her hand rests near her heart, as though guarding something personal beneath the visible layers.

The work considers how every person carries an accumulation of stories. Some are clearly expressed, others rewritten or hidden, but none disappear without leaving a trace.
