I’m Eiain Lennon, an artist, maker and writer based in Ainsdale Village. My work moves between drawing, painting, pyrography, three-dimensional objects, found materials, books and essays.
I began life in Lydiate and made my home in Ainsdale Village in 2003. The histories, landscapes and quiet continuity of those places suit the way I work: looking closely, gathering fragments, and finding what materials, objects and ideas might become.
Why The Cabinet?
The Cabinet takes its name from the cabinet of curiosities: those museum-like collections where natural objects, artworks, tools, oddities and fragments were gathered because they invited attention.
This site works in that spirit. It is a living cabinet: part archive, part studio shelf, part notebook and part invitation to look more closely. It holds finished work, process notes, books, essays, found objects and the small sparks that might otherwise stay in drawers.
Work and influences
I create portraits, abstract works, pyrography and physical pieces using wood, Perspex, 3D printing and found objects, including fragments of Victorian pottery and china. I am interested in giving overlooked or discarded materials a new context and presence.
Writing is part of the same practice. I write poetry, reflective essays, a children’s adventure, practical guides and longer fiction currently in progress.
I am drawn to natural lines and forms, to Bauhaus discipline, to the emotional colour of Mark Rothko, and to the Arts and Crafts belief that materials, skill and making things well matter.
The simplest way to describe my work is curiosity made visible. Whether I am working with words, wood, light, colour, technology or a forgotten object, I am looking for the possibility hidden within it.
